4. The Jinx

I read book 4 today at Barnes & Noble, in between reading exciting things about Public Policy for class. Anyway, it's called The Jinx. It was a Chick Lit Mystery - not the typical combination. :) It's the sequel to The Pact, a book I read last year, although you didn't have to read the first to understand the second. It was pretty good. Parts were incredibly predictible, others mildly - you knew that someone was up to no good, but couldn't figure out exactly how - and some pretty surprising plot twists. Overall, a good Sunday afternoon read and 100% more interesting then the text book reading I was doing. Anyway, B&N.com describes the book as: In this sequel to Sturman's well-reviewed first book, The Pact, investment banker Rachel Benjamin once again finds that relationships can be murder. At the outset, Rachel seems to be in a successful relationship (for the first time) with her long-distance boyfriend, Peter. Happily, work takes both of them to Boston for a week; but then the bodies start piling up. By page 237, Rachel has a big to-do list: thwart the takeover of her client, Grenthaler Media; discover who attacked the prime shareholder; and give up on love, permanently, if she can't find out why Peter is spending so much time with his beautiful director of development. Sturman knows how to keep her plotlines spinning as she displays her business background, comic timing, and hours of watching TV crime shows. (Rachel diverts her would-be killer by asking, "Don't you watch CSI? Then you'll know you'll never get away with this."). I'm about 100 pages into Book 5, hopefully I'll be writing about it soon...
